Can I share with you my embarrassing gala story? It was early in the evening, and I was standing outside the American Visionary Art Museum with my glass of wine wondering what I should do next, when a tall, handsome, and very poised gentleman approached me and introduced himself. He told me he practiced in South Carolina and I asked why he had come to the MPS gala. With just a hint of a smile, he quietly replied that he'd been invited. I considered asking him who had invited him, but fortunately did not. I didn't give it another thought until it was time to sit down for dinner. My husband picked up his program, and began laughing. He pointed to a name on the agenda and said, "I think you know him." So with that I learned that Dr. Harding, my new friend from South Carolina, was the President-elect of the APA and one of the featured speakers. My husband thought I should have known this, and now I do.

Well, having gotten that out of the way, I just want to add that it was truly a wonderful evening. The MPS staff and the gala committee did a terrific job of coordinating a successful event--they even ordered magnificent weather. It's good that we have reason to celebrate, friends and colleagues to honor, and each other to spend a delightful evening with. So, do I have to wait 50 years for the next party?
