The MPPAC held its Annual Legislative Reception on Wednesday, January 31
at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis. The event was very well attended
with 31 legislators and 24 members, our lobbyist, Franklin Goldstein, Walter
Hill, WPS Executive Director and Jennifer Gajewski, Assistant Executive
Director of the MPS.
The cocktail reception lasted for over two hours, allowing members and legislators plenty of time to have in-depth conversations about issues of importance to psychiatrists and their patients. Franklin Goldstein, and Mayer Liebman, MD, MPPAC Chair, welcomed guests and encouraged legislators to use the members of the MPS and SMPS as a resource for issues pertaining to mental illness. The event proved to be an excellent opportunity for members to get acquainted with several legislators. As a friendly reminder, legislators were given a bookmark highlighting the MPS’ and SMPS’ legislative agenda for 2001.
